Access Hollywood and the Normalization of Deviant Behavior

In the notorious “Access Hollywood” sound clip, Trump, unaware that his words were being recorded, said the following regarding his approach to women

When you’re a star, they let you do it. You can do anything. Grab ’em by the pussy. You can do anything.

These were not the words of an immature teenager, but, rather, those of immature 59-year-old adult.

You can tell a lot about someone by the things they choose to brag about.

While many assumed that the emergence of this tape would derail his presidential bid, they obviously underestimated the power of the Trump cult of personality. Loyalty to an individual, however seriously flawed, is more important to Trump supporters than core values such as decency and morality.

There is an important lesson to be learned here — Trump supporters demonstrate unquestioning loyalty to him, regardless of his actions or statements.

Donald Trump has significantly contributed to the normalization of deviant behavior among his supporters, who, ironically, claim to be champions of law and order.
