The Stable Genius
Thoughts on the Stupidity, Absurdity and Depravity of Donald Trump
More than once, Donald Trump has referred to himself as a “stable genius”. It is, of course, easy to ridicule a fool that regards himself as a genius. If limited intelligence were the only flaw of Donald Trump, I might find him less repugnant. Stupidity in itself is forgivable. However, when stupidity is combined with pathological narcissism, contempt for the truth, and an obsession with winning at any cost, moral depravity is the inevitable outcome.
Eight years ago, when my fears that Donald Trump might actually be elected became reality, I braced for the chaos that lay ahead. For the first time in my life, I began keeping a political journal. Excerpts from that journal, which consist of my thoughts concerning the most absurd, undignified and alarming moments of the Trump Administration, form the basis of this blog.
Donald Trump is the greatest political fraud of my lifetime, if not in all of American history, and I believe that, in large part, he was elected simply because too many people failed to recognize him for what he truly is. Excluding the Trump fanatics, to whom he is a cult-like figure, it is the perception that Donald Trump is a “normal” candidate that lies at the root of the problem. My hope is that, if I and others like me can persuade enough people that this simply isn’t the case, we can make a difference in an election that could potentially be determined by the smallest of turnout margins.
While challenging, I believe that it is possible to reason with the less fanatical Trump supporters. This is evidenced by numerous former members of his administration, including his vice president, as well as Republican officials across the country who have publicly declared their opposition to Trump. Whether Trump wins or loses in 2024, I intend to keep up the fight. Although I continue to struggle to find the optimal balance between annoying and persuasive, I have found that many of the ideas, arguments and questions that are included in this blog have proven to be somewhat effective. With this in mind, feel free to share the content of this website with your anti-Trump allies and, whenever the opportunity arises, use it to persuade, provoke or taunt your Trump-worshipping friends and relatives.
